Happy New Year!!!

Hello! Happy 2007!
I know it really isn't 2007 yet, but I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year!

I have a new FREEBIE for you! I was trying to re-create the look of some papers I had seen, but I DID NOT COME CLOSE - LOL! I wanted a blended, tie-dye, grunge kind of look, and I wound up somewhere else. I have also been watching too many MGM musicals due to my ongoing illness (yes, I am STILL sick!), so that's where the Bali Hai/tropical look comes in. If you have ever seen South Pacific, you'll get what I mean. But, I added a 2007 for your New Year's pages - LOL.

Thank you for your interest, but this freebie has been retired.
Please do not share the direct link or the files in any way. Just send your friends on over to the blog, please!

My blog coupon is still in effect for a few more days, so scroll down to find the discount coupon code for all the items I have for sale at Deco-Pages. You can save 20% OFF everything! But, it is for a limited time.

I have some new kits that will be in the store soon. We are moving to a new server and a new cart program at Deco-Pages, so I am going to wait until that is all in place before I put the new items up for sale. But, here is a sneak peek:

I am also working on a few kits that I hope to finish early next month.
And, just a reminder, the new Club Deco Kit, Pop Heart, is coming out tomorrow! Here is my contribution:

You can grab this kit and 11 additional MEGA kits (one a month) for a year's membership: just $30. It is a great deal just for the monthly kits alone. But, you also get lots of free goodies from out designers, free monthly challenge kits and much more! You can sign up at www.deco-pages.com.

Happy New Year!

12 Days of Christmas!

I hope you and yours are having a wonderful holiday!
I have a new freebie for you!

Thank you for your interest, but this freebie has been retired.
Special thanks to Atomic Cupcake for the glass effect!

As always, please do not redistribute the files in any way - just send your friends here for the download. Please leave comments to let me know what you think - Thanks!

I also have a holiday gift for you...a coupon!
My valued blog readers can receive 20% OFF any of my kits at Deco-Pages.com just by entering the coupon code MERRYROSE at checkout. This coupon is only good for a discount on my kits and cannot be combined with any other offers.

The coupon is good until January 6, 2007 (that's the 12 days of Christmas part). So, if you've had your eye on something, now is a good time to treat yourself!
And, starting in January, new releases will be 20% OFF for the first week they are in the store.

I hope your 2007 is a joyous and prosperous one. May you be given many blessings and find peace!

MMMMMM! Cookies!

No, not real cookies. Although if they ever figure out how to do that, I'll be sure and send some to you all! Here are some cookies you can use in your scrapping. I have three sets of holiday cookie alphas. The red set is a Rambling Rose blog exclusive...only for my readers!
Thank you for your interest, but this freebie has been retired.
The set contains capital letters, numerals and some symbols all in individual files.

Please share some love and don't redistribute the files. Just send all your friends here to get it.

The green set is a freebie at Deco-Pages.com. You have to be registered and logged in to see it, but registering is free and painless. Plus, there are so many freebies there it is worth it! You can find it HERE.

The chip set is available only to Club Deco members...if you haven't joined, now is a great time to do so.
Every month you get a MEGA kit that is sooooooo fabulous, plus lots of freebie goodies like this alpha and other great stuff...all for a very low annual membership price. If you haven't picked out a gift for yourself yet, this should be it! Also, friends and family will appreciate this gift because it gives for 12 whole months. It averages out to about $2.50 a month...you can't buy one regular-sized kit for that much, and these monthly kits are HUGE!
Okay enough persuasion tactics...LOL!

I hope you and yours have a fabulous holiday season!

Cozy

I have finally found a few minutes to put up the full-size preview of Cozy Comfort for you. It looks kinda teeny in that sale graphic, doesn't it? I really like the palette of this kit - even though I am not a big fan of green. It has wonderful corduroy and felt textures (thanks to Tandika Star and Atomic Cupcake). There are lots of fun elements like mugs and a mitten!

Remember, you can get Cozy Comfort for FREE if you have one purchase of RoseMadeDesigns kits total $10.00 or more...and Frosty Fun is FREE if you purchase $25.00 worth of digital kits in the Deco-Pages store (by any designer).

But like Santa, this sale is done on December 24th. So, be sure to get in on this great deal before Christmas.

I've been battling a cold for about a week. I woke up this morning with the most delicious headache (yes, I'm trying a positive spin - LOL). So, I'm off to get thecoffee going and eat something and take some medicine, so I can function at work today. I have already taken two days off, and I really can't miss any more this close to the Winter Break.

Friday Freebie and More!

Good morning!
I have some kit news and a freebie for you today. First the kit news. Here are some previews:

I know what you're thinking! Three colors - how will I choose??? You don't have to! All of this is in my newest kit, Frosty Fun! That's right -- over 170 MB of winter scrapping fun! Now here's the catch...you knew there had to be one, right? Actually it's not a bad thing - it's a SALE!!!!
I will be having an Over the Hill Sale in a week or so to celebrate my DH's 40th. This kit will not be for sale until the day of the event, but it will also be a gift-with-purchase option. You'll have to check back in a few days for all the details, but it will be great!!!!
I also have another kit, Cozy Comfort, that you can get for free during the sale, too. But, sorry no preview just yet...hopefully sometime this weekend.

Okay, I guess I can post the Freebie now...geez, I bet you scrolled down past all the neat kit stuff just to get to the Freebie, didn't ya???? LOL! That's okay! I love you anyway!
These lightbulbs come from a kit idea I have had on the back burner for a few months. I will eventually finish it. It's is for all you Science Fair/Spelling Bee/Art Gallery/Talent Show moms, dads and grandparents. Bright Idea will help you show off all your kids and grandkids on their special days proving just how great they are! Now, if I could just get a Bright Idea and some time to finish the kit - LOL!

Thank you for your interest, but this freebie has been retired.

Please don't share the files!
I hope to have the sale info for you this weekend!

Got Freebies?

Yes, here I am again with another freebie from my Mediterranean Spice kit. Today you get another alpha (all individual files this time) and a paper. I really like how both of these turned out, but they aren't quite a match to the kit. I hope to have a preview of the full kit up for you in a day or two.
I've enlarged the paper in the preview so you can see the detail.
Thank you for your interest, but this Freebie has been retired.

Please show some love.

Do not share the files...send your friends here to get it, please!

I have put together a Creative Team! Kim, Kristen and Linda are putting some awesome layouts together that I hope to post soon. These ladies are so talented, and I feel very fortunate that they want to help me!!!

If you are interested in being on the Creative Team, details can be found HERE. You may have to log in to view this information.

FREEBIE!...Finally!

Well, as promised, I do have a Freebie for you. I had an inspiration for a kit last night, and started on it this morning...and you get the benefits! I hope to have the kit done in about a week, but until then, you'll get all kinds of cool matching freebies...almost a kit by itself!

First up are some papers..they don't quite go with the theme of the kit, but they are made from the same color palette. Each has a rich texture that I'm sure will add a wonderful depth to your layouts!

Thank you for your interest, but this Freebie has been retired.

Tomorrow you should find another freebie...but I'm not telling you what it is - LOL!
Leave some love and let me know what you think! And, remember, please don't share the link or the files...just share a link to my blog page if you think your friends might like this freebie!

See you tomorrow!

Apologies!!!

Okay, I realize I said last week that I would have a new Freebie for you on Friday, and it's already Wednesday and NOTHING! I must apologize. It has been a crazy few days, and the migraines have decided to visit! I do have some nice things for you, and I will post them by this Friday. As a way to say sorry I will have 2 Freebies for you and leave them up longer than a week. AND, from now on, I will not remove the current Freebie until the new one is posted.

I have some things that will be going into the store over the weekend, too. So, be sure and visit Deco-Pages.com

Here are some layouts I made yesterday and today:

This one is a picture of my older daughter playing chess with her dad. I used some items from my new Giggles AddOn kit. And, you may spot a future freebie on the page, as well!

Layout by RMD featuring Giggle AddOn Kit (Deco-Pages)
Layout Template by Syndee Nuckles (ScrapGirls-Commercial)

Here is another recent layout I made with a quick page from my Basics Quick Page Collection. I got some fabulous shots of the changing leaves on the hill. It was a slightly foggy day, so everything has a misty look to it, and the colors are not as bright as they usually are. Oh, but the leaves are gorgeous! I hope I can get more pictures of the trees taken before the leaves start to fall off!

Layout by RMD featuring Basics Quick Page Kit (Deco-Pages)
Template by Mandy Steward (ScrapGirls-Commercial)

I should have these kits in the store soon!

For my American friends in the U.S. and away from home:

Sharing Some New Things

Layout made with Suffolk Garden by Marcee Fairchild
available at Deco-Pages.com

Here is a new layout I made with my latest kit, Suffolk Garden. Our rosebud thought pulling out the grass and letting the wind take it out of her hands was the best thing!

This kit is HERE in the Deco-Pages store. It has 10 patterned papers, 16 buttons, 4 solid cardstocks, 4 bows, 2 beaded bars, 9 decorative brads, 2 flowers, 16 ribons, 12 tags and a silver stick pin. The shades of rose and green will compliment almost any kind of layout. I have two matching freebies posted at Deco-Pages - one is just for Club-Deco members, so come on by and join the best digital scrapbook club!

The weather has changed to mostly cold with drizzle, so I have an awful sinus headache. I plan on going to bed early and getting some rest.
I haven't been feeling that creative lately, but I hope to have some more layouts to share in the next few days.
Don't forget, the freebie will be taken down on Thursday sometime, so make sure you download it before then. But, I should have a new freebie for you Friday. Share some love and let me know what you would like to see.

Please do not share the files or the link. If you think your friends would like this gift, send them to my blog. THANKS!

I Hate Colds!

I have been sick for the past 4 days, and I am not feeling much better yet. I do want to let you know that I will be putting up more freebies this weekend. I am going to try to post a freebie once a week - leaving it up for a week so you have time to collect it - and then putting up a new one. But....it may not happen just like that.

I have several new kits in the store: Basics: Brown, Giggle, and More Just Desserts (the Mega Kit). I will have a Quick Page Kit called Desserts in the store over the weekend. I made 8 Quick Pages from the Just Desserts and More Just Desserts kits - there is also a bonus of 2 alphas!

Well, time for breakfast - waffles!!!
I should have a freebie posted soon!

Layout Share!!!

I have actually had some time to get a few layouts done...although this is a little misleading since I make a layout for every kit to show how the kit can be used. I hope to get some done this weekend with other people's kits for a change - LOL.

But, I do want to share these with you. They were all made with my latest kits.

This one was made with my Giggle kit that is now in the Deco-Pages store HERE. It shows my first attempt of creating text on a path in Photoshop, and I think it turned out fairly well. I adapted a layout template by Rebecca Myers (The Daily Scrap).

Here is one I made with my Basics: Brown kit that should be in the store tomorrow. I just love all the felt and corduroy textures - thanks to Atomic Cupcake and Tandika Star (DigiScrapDesigners).
This is my daughter in first grade on Scarecrow Day (a Halloween - but not Halloween - fun day at school. I used a template by Sarah Batdorf (Scrap Girls).

And finally, this layout was created with More Just Desserts, which should also be in the store tomorrow - or at least sometime this weekend. This kit is a MEGA kit - well over 200 MB (something like 254 when unzipped) - so it will take a while to upload the files - LOL!
This is Nana. I really love this picture of her. It is the only studio photo I have of her. One of these days, on a visit home, I am going to sit down with my mom and go over all the photos we have so I can have details for scrapbooking and family records. It's one of those things I think everyone should do - but distance and time sometimes get in the way.

I have to sign off now. It's time for work once again! I hope you have a great day. I will be removing the previous freebies sometime later today, so you may want to grab them now. I have to make room for more freebies - LOL!

Sneak Peeks!

As usual, I am running late this morning, so I don't have time for much. But, I would like to share with you some previews of my upcoming kits!
The first one is Giggle - a fun and bright kit that is more suited for girls, but the orange and turquoise could work for boys, too! I also have another Basics kit out. This one is Brown, and it is full of fall elements and rich textures like leather, corduroy and felt. These should be in the Deco-Pages store by next week.

I am also working on getting the October Color Challenge Kits together and into the store for the SUPER price of $1.99!!!
And, there will be a MEGA Add-on kit for the Color Challenge called More Just Desserts...here's a small preview of that:Plus, I have been inspired by Jen, a co-designer at Deco-Pages, so I am working on a Southwest-themed kit called Totem. I also have several element and Quick Page kits planned. BUSY, BUSY, BUSY ME!!!

Come by Deco-Pages.com and look around. Our Club Deco membership is an awesome deal!!!! And, I have several freebies just for Club Members - one matches the Basics: Brown kit.

ZZZZZZZ! Just a quick note!

Hi! It's been a few days. It's really late for me...who was awakened at 3 AM by the rosebud pictured above...so I won't be typing much. I made this layout tonight for a crop I attended. The template is by Victoria Feemster and the kit is Mod Club by Saskia Bokkers (one of my top three fave designers!). Anyway, back to the rosebud. I have the most wonderful hubby. He got up and fed her and played with her until she was ready to go back to sleep...and he's playing with her now. Yes, the little one had a long nap early this evening to make up for her 3 AM romp, and so now...yes, you guessed it...she is up and ready to roll at 10 o'clock! It's my bedtime, though! I usually get up by 5 AM each morning, so I'm curled up in bed drowsing to a DVD by 10:30 most nights. I've been catching up on Frasier, but I have a few pet peeves about those DVD sets - at least the ones I'm watching now.
#1) No Subtitles! We live very close to a bahnhof (train station), so we get frequent loud rumblings passing by the house. This is horrible for TV watching. But, at least with subtitles you can read what the people are saying. I know most US TVs come with closed captioning, but our TVs here dont' have that. So, no subtitles means I have to press pause or rewind to get the whole story. I really hate that.
#2) No Play All feature! Okay, so I am lazy. Okay, so I usually watch TV right before I fall asleep. Okay, so I want my TV to keep broadcasting well past the time I actually fall asleep. If the DVD plays only one episode at a time, this kinda gets messed up! Even when I am watching TV on the weekend, I hate having to scroll through two or three menu screens for each episode - Star Trek DVDs are famous for this!

I have other DVD pet peeves, but I shall save them for another time. It's time for sleepy bo-bos (an obscure Black Adder reference - cheers to Rowan Atkinson!). I'll try to post again soon, and maybe I'll have a freebie for you soon.

The More Just Deserts freebie and the Victoria II Alpha freebie won't be up much longer so get them soon!

What's On TV?

Good morning!
Yesterday was a fun day. We took our students to Mainz, home of Guttenberg and his moveable type press. It was a great trip! The weather was perfect, the kids were good (mostly), and I was able to pay homage to an invention that has literally changed the world. I don't read as much as I used to or as much as I would like. I am currently re-reading Margaret George's The Autobiography of Henry VIII - one of my very favorite books! But, even though I have read it numerous times, it is a little slow going this time. But, that is probably because I am trying to read it during the students' silent reading time - and they are usually not totally silent. So, I have lots of shhhhhhhh-shing to do! I hope to have it finished soon. I'm not sure what my next book will be...I think I might try to find out what books by Stephen King I have unread on my shelf. Which brings me to the reason for my blog title today...
I am watching Season 4 of The Dead Zone on DVD. It is a sci-fi series based on the King novel of the same name. It stars Anthony Michael Hall (who aged pretty well, actually - so far from the geeky kid in 16 Candles). It is a pretty good show. Just enough "what will happen next?" to keep me interested, but not so much that I am going crazy trying to figure stuff out. But, my favorite part of the show is Sean Patrick Flanery. I've had a little crush on him since his Young Indiana Jones Chronicles days. His character in TDZ is so charmingly sneaky, so deliciously crooked...and just a lilt of a Southern accent...my, oh, my! I really hope YIJC comes to DVD soon!

A Freebie for You!

11/09/06 - Thank you for your interest in my freebies, but this link has been disabled. Check back soon for more freebies!

As promised, here is a freebie for you. It is a few things that I could not fit into the November PTP kit, and it wasn't enough to make a whole kit by itself either.

I am trying something new with the downloads. The folder has a password. It is winter3 ...just like that...all lowercase and no spaces. I am going to be removing some of the older files in a few days, so if you like any of the early freebies, you might want to get them before Friday 20 October.

I Want a Fancy Blog!

I have been looking at some blogs (Traci Sims and Rina Kroes as well as SkyeScrapz), and they are all so nice and stylish. As much as I appreciate the free template I am using...it's just not really what I want, so I hope to change the look of my blog soon. I did make a slide show, but I want it over on the right side along with some other stuff. I'm not sure if I should be playing around with the html, though. I know just enough of that to really make a mess. So, I'm sure this weekend I'll be searching for blogging for the new-to-blogging websites.

I also hope to get a freebie or two to you very soon!

It's Tuesday!

The only thing I really like about Tuesday is that it is not Monday, so there is one less morning for the work week. I am not a morning person. I really do not enjoy getting up at 5 AM. And, it really doesn't have much to do with sleep or how early I go to bed. I just dislike being up while everyone else is still asleep. I do enjoy the quiet, though! I sometimes get some quality thinking done...but usually I'm just waiting for the rest of the household to get up. And, if they don't, I have to be the one to get them up...so I am not a favorite sight in the morning!

Now that the mad rush of getting the October things ready is over, it is time to concentrate on some new things. I am working on a kit called More just Desserts that will work with the Color Challenge kits, Just Desserts. The kit names come from the colors I chose...my favorite dessert flavors. If it is raspberry, strawberry, chocolate or coffee-flavored, I probably like it (maybe too much)! This kit is already pushing into the 250 MB range, so I may have to make some decisions about what goes in it, or break it into smaller kits. I am also continuing the Basics series with upcoming kits in brown and pink (or whatever color I feel like working with - LOL). I'm pretty sure brown will be next. I think it would be a great kit to have for the fall season. It would pair nicely with Basics: Orange that has already been released.

Helen has tagged me! I am supposed to write 5 weird things about myself and then tag 5 people. Well, I think I can come up with a list of 5 weird things, but I am not sure about tagging. I still haven't tagged anyone from the first time. So, I think I will save all of that for another post sometime soon.

I hope to have a new freebie up this week. I hope you have a great day. I am one day closer to a three-day weekend...LOL.

I've Been Tagged...Uh-oh

I've been tagged...by Carol (Buddha Babe)! I'm supposed to list 7 songs I'm really into right now...can you say it with me? Help!!!! I am then supposed to tag 7 other people. I can only do the first part. I don't actually know 7 other people that have a blog - LOL. And, most of the ones I do know have already been tagged! I'm sure there is a rule somewhere about tagging strangers...there has to be - LOL.

Well, here are the rules directly from Carol's blog:
"List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether or not they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal/blog along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they’re listening to."

...okay, what am I into right now? When did I last voluntarily listen to music..hmmmm?

1. "Beyond the Sea" by Royal Crown Revue
2. "Don't Speak" by No Doubt
3. "She's So High" by Tal Bachman
4. "Flood" by Jars of Clay
5. "How to Dream" by Sam Phillips
6. "Far Away" by Nickleback
7. "Clocks" by Coldplay

And, honorary #8, the theme to SpongeBob SquarePants - because in my house you can't get away from it - EVER!

Ummmm, I guess I should go tag some people now....I'll post again with that list as soon as I get it.

FREEBIE!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST, BUT THIS DOWNLOAD IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

Well, I figured out my uploading problem...at least for now, so I have a freebie to share! These are some pretty cool papers I made while playing around with filters. All of them are 12X12 and 300 DPI, but they can be resized. They have a scratched, sandy texture. And, the colors are perfect for fall.

I hope you like them!
If I can get more files uploaded, you'll have more freebies soon!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST, BUT THIS DOWNLOAD IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

Deco-Pages Club!!!!

Okay, this is a little bit of an advertisement, and as a designer at Deco-Pages, I might be accused of bias, BUT even if I weren't a designer, I would be telling you...this is a great deal!
Deco-Pages.com has a new club. It's SO new, we are having a contest to name it! Get all the details about that here.

Your membership includes a fabulous MEGA kit every month, a 10% coupon good off anything in the Deco-Pages store for the time of your membership, lots of Club Exclusive FREEBIES, and other great stuff just for members! If you join during September the annual membeship cost is only $15.00. Starting 1 October, it goes to $20.00 (still a fab deal). A year's worth of MEGA kits and SO MUCH MORE!!! If you bought 12 regular size kits, you would spend at least $48.00 and probably a lot more.

Above is my portion of the September Member kit.

And, here is a layout I made with one of the Quick Pages in the kit:

This is my son, who is ALWAYS drawing something. For school we have to buy extra notebooks and paper so he has enough to do his actual school work. Any piece of paper in our house is fair game - LOL!

I'll be back later with a sneak peek of the October Color Challenge stuff I'm working on for Deco-Pages. The starter kit is FREE for members (just another cool perk for joining!).
Check out this month's challenge here for more information....Dana's kits for September are fab!!!!

Grrrrrrr - Uploading Problems

Well, I wanted to share some freebies, but I am fighting with an uploading site (well, not really fighting). I cannot get the files to upload. I wanted to share them in a way that almost everyone could get them...RapidShare causes problems for some, and there are others that have bugs and still others that limit downloads. So, it looks like we may not have freebies for a bit. I guess I'll just share some layouts I've made and show you my kits until then.
I hadn't wanted to turn this into a big advertisement page.....but needs must when technology bites you on the hand - LOL!

Have a great day! I'll be back later with something...I hope!

Long Absence

Well, as I figured it has been a while since I posted anything...over a month, in fact. School has been very busy, and I have been creating some new kits and things for Deco-Pages members. I will be doing the October Color Challenge, so I've been trying to put together some really fabulous stuff for all who participate.
The school year is basically in full swing. It's a little rough around the edges...kids are still learning their schedules and how to handle those big binders and planners. But, I have to admit, I'm not exactly having a smooth transition myself. It has been a busy summer, and fall is not looking any more tranquil - LOL.

I feel like posting a Freebie or two...so I guess I will. Be on the lookout for them....COMING SOON!

Now, if anyone actually reads this...well, that would be a shock...but, please feel free to tell anyone to come and get the FREEBIES!!!

I have a new kit!

Well, it's official...I have a kit for sale, so I must be a designer - LOL!

It is called Cotton Candy, and I am fairly happy with it. I don't usually go for pastels, but I like the way these colors work together. This kit has many possibilities with lots of papers (15) and elements (26)...plus 6 (yes, that's right) alphas.

There is also a freebie.

The kit and freebie are available exclusively at Deco-Pages.

I hope like them, and please leave me a comment or two. I'd love to hear what kinds of kits you would like to see!

That's all for now.
